As we sat around visiting for a family gathering, my sister-in-law came up with the greatest idea.
I have been wanting to write about it for quite some time. I decided to get to it for this newsletter, in honor of the celebration of Mother's Day this month.
As I think about this gem of an idea, I kind of chuckle. Every single Mom will relate. In fact, I do believe that the arrival of this newsletter will bless every father with an ideal gift idea for the mother of his children, for Mother's Day.
What AM I talking about, you may be wondering? Well, this is just so good, I think I am enjoying tantalizing you a little too much. SO here goes.
How many of you wish you could find the scissors when you need it, in the place it belongs? Or, how often do you go to grab the tape, and of course, it is nowhere to be found?. It certainly is not in the kitchen desk drawer where you keep it - or should I say - where you put it when YOU are done with it. What about the little children's scissors I bought, just to keep in my kitchen drawer for cooking? I call it my cooking scissors and use it to snip open packaging as I am cooking and baking. That would be the scissors that I bought for the very purpose of being my own, announcing it to the entire family that it does not move out of my kitchen utensil drawer and is off limits to everyone.....that cute little scissors with the plastic blue handle, that only cost a buck two eighty. There have been a few times when it has disappeared.
How DOES everything grow legs? It is amazing how nobody in the entire family has any idea where the things you want are, that are not where they belong when you need them. As my beloved father would say, "DOG GONE it!".
It is such a little thing, but the repetition of the frustrating inconvenience is a small stress trap.
Well fellow sister mothers I have the perfect solution. I have held out long enough here. The idea I feel compelled to share is to have our own safe! They are small, inexpensive and would certainly do the trick! I am going to keep mine right on a little shelf above the kitchen desk. In it, I will keep my own scissors, scotch tape, and tacks for the bulletin board that keep disappearing. In fact, I will keep my own little screwdrivers of both kinds! Now that I think about it, I may keep my own duct tape in there too!
You see what I mean girls? Is this a gem or what? I am talking about having our own small safes at home, a "mom safe" where we can keep our own essentials and they will always be there when we need them. Talk about a small thing that packs a big wallop. I think of it kind of like our own fishing tackle box - for the home - you know what I mean?
